The art students of UdK create their own view of Gropiusstadt with their project "Vertical Village."
They undertake a shift in perspective, using the panoramic room of the 24-story high-rise at the Wutzkyallee U-Bahn station as a temporary workspace and starting point for an artistic exploration of the neighborhood. In conversations with residents, they have the opportunity to share their observations and exchange ideas. This allows them to gain insights into the history and community structure of the neighborhood and its residential high-rises. Subsequently, the students develop an artistic work from the collected material, in which they engage with the "Vertical Villages" in Gropiusstadt.
The resulting works will be presented in an exhibition in the Berlin Mondiale container at Apfelsinenplatz.
Vertical Village is part of the project bauhaus@gropiusstadt. Shaping Neighborhoods in Berlin-Neukölln and was made possible by the Youth Culture Initiative. The initiative is supported by the Senate Department for Culture and Community Cohesion and supported by the accompanying program of Berlin Mondiale.
